As a renowned Spanish mystic and religious reformer, Teresa of Ávila, known as Saint Teresa of Jesus, was a Carmelite nun who played a significant role in the Counter-Reformation. She spearheaded a movement of spiritual and monastic rejuvenation, bringing about changes in the Carmelite Orders for both women and men. St Teresa is respected as the Patron Saint for Spanish Catholics, Writers, Headache Sufferers, and those who have suffered the Loss of Parents. Her Memorial Feast day is observed on October 15th.
