The Pope who stopped Attila the Hun. St. Leo the Great — one of only two popes in history to earn the title “the Great” — personally rode out to meet Attila at the gates of Rome and persuaded him to turn back, saving the city without a single battle. A Doctor of the Church, masterful theologian, and patron saint of speakers and popes, his sermons and letters shaped Catholic doctrine for centuries. He is honored in this beautifully detailed round sterling silver medal, handcrafted from solid .925 sterling silver by skilled American artisans. The medal depicts St. Leo holding a book and crucifix, symbols of his authority as a teacher of the faith and defender of the Church.
