Saint Agatha of Sicily

With a memorial feast day on February 5th, Saint Agatha was a young, beautiful virgin who bravely stood up for her faith in Catania, Sicily. She is recognized as the patron saint for Nurses, Breast Cancer, Foundry Workers and Protector Against Fires. Living in circa 250 A. D., Agatha rejected advances from a Roman senator who then accused her of being a Christian. As punishment, he ordered her breasts to be cut off, but with the help of Saint Peter, they were miraculously restored with a "celestial ointment."
