Saint Raymond of Penafort

Saint Raymond of Penyafort was a 13th-century Catalan Dominican friar known for compiling the Decretals of Gregory IX, a canonical law collection that was a significant part of Church law until it was replaced in 1917 by the Code of Canon Law. He is revered as a saint in the Catholic Church and honored as the patron saint of Athletes, Banisters, Attorneys, Canon Lawyers, and Soldiers. His memorial feast day is celebrated on January 7th.
