Saint Tarcisius

During the third century's Roman persecutions, a twelve-year-old acolyte named Tarcisius bravely carried the Eucharist to imprisoned Christians from a secret meeting place in the catacombs. When there was no deacon available, he stepped up and fulfilled the important task. Known as the Patron Saint for Altar Boys and Altar Girls, Saint Tarcisius's memorial feast day is celebrated on August 15th.
