Scholastica, an Italian hermit and the sister of Benedict of Nursia, is credited as the founder of the Benedictine nuns. She is venerated as a saint in the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Anglican faiths. Born in Italy, she is traditionally believed to be the twin sister of Benedict. Saint Scholastica is recognized as the Patron Saint of Nuns and Storms, with her memorial feast day falling on February 10th.
