Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori

St Alphonsus Maria de Liguori was an Italian Catholic bishop, spiritual writer, scholastic philosopher, theologian, and the founder of the Redemptorists. He was born to a noble family in 1696, Alphonsus began to practice law, but he turned to priesthood when he lost his first case. He would preach to parishes and wrote several works, including his life’s masterpiece, Theologae Moralis. He died at the age of 91. He is the Patron Saint of arthritis, theologians,confessors, moralists, Pagani, Cancello, and Naples. Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori memorial feast day is August 1st. August 2nd (General Roman Calendar 1839–1969). He was beatified in 15 September 1816, and canonized 26 May 1839.
