Blessed Herman the Cripple
An expert in the 11th century, Blessed Herman the Cripple (1013-1054) was also known as Hermann of Reichenau, Hermannus Contractus, and Hermannus Augiensis. He excelled in various fields including scholarship, composition, music theory, mathematics, and astronomy. One of his most notable works is the Marian prayer Alma Redemptoris Mater. In recognition of his contributions, he was beatified in 1863, and his feast day is celebrated on September 25.
