Saint Teresa of Calcutta

St. Teresa of Calcutta, also known as Mother Teresa, was a Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India on October 7, 1950. Despite receiving numerous honors from the world, her joy and mission always came from her Bridegroom, Jesus Christ. She received a "call within a call" to serve the poor and remained consecrated to God. Through her selfless actions, many young women were inspired to join her in serving those in need. The Vatican eventually approved the Missionaries of Charity as an official organization. St. Teresa of Calcutta also traveled the world, spreading her message of love and compassion. She was beatified on October 19, 2003 and canonized on September 4, 2016, with her memorial feast day falling on September 5th. St. Teresa of Calcutta is also known as the Patron Saint of World Youth Day.
